We have cared for thousands of children over the years and have been fortunate to follow many of these to adulthood. It is important to bring your child to the clinic as young as possible enabling us to advise you on how to care for their teeth.
From assisting your children to understand how their diet affects their teeth, and helping them adopt correct daily dental care, to Preventive Treatments and Fillings.
Fissure sealants and more recently ozone therapy and air abrasion are used as a Preventive Treatment.
A fissure sealant is a clear plastic liquid-coating that then sets. Fissure sealants are painted on to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth, to reduce the stagnation of sugary substances and prevent decay in children. Prior to the fissure sealant being placed the microscopic pores of the enamel can be ozonated, completely killing all bacteria present.
Fissure sealants have been scientifically proven to prevent decay, especially if they are placed on permanent teeth that have just erupted.
In cases of early decay, the use of ozone gas and air abrasion can be used, often replacing the 'drill' or even the use of a 'shot'. By using the latest technology we strive to offer the ultimate care for your child.
When it comes to Fillings, the British Dental Clinic has been amalgam (mercury) free for over 15 years. Due to this we have a great deal of experience in placing white(composite) fillings. These are bonded to the tooth providing an aesthetic, functional restoration that lasts for many years.Composite fillings are ideal for small to medium sized cavities both for the front and back teeth.
We are now 'pushing the envelope' and using them in larger sized cavities due to better material science.
